Kawawachikamach, QC – October 18, 2024 – The Naskapi Development Corporation proudly announces its significant contributions to the 2024 Elders’ Gathering. Through essential construction work, transportation services, and cultural leadership, the corporation played a key role in the success of this year’s event, which united elders, families, and community members in celebration of tradition and heritage.
The Naskapi Development Corporation’s involvement spanned several areas:
- Naskapi Construction: Provided 85 hours of support in preparing the site and setting up tents, ensuring the space was ready to welcome attendees efficiently and comfortably.
- Adoschaouna Transport: Offered critical transportation services, including discounted shipping of goods between Sept-Îles and Kawawachikamach.
Two trailers, including a refrigerated unit, were provided for three weeks to preserve perishable goods during the event.
Additionally, Adoschaouna Transport supplied fuel and contributed 115 hours of employee time to assist with on-site logistics, ensuring smooth operations throughout the gathering.
In addition to the corporation’s logistical and construction contributions, Marianne Chescappio from the cultural department was instrumental in the event’s success. Marianne represented the Naskapi Development Corporation and played a key role in organizing cultural activities that honored Naskapi traditions. Her dedication ensured the gathering was meaningful for all participants.
